Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions achieves CIPS global Corporate Certification

Jul 18, 2013

LONDON, UK – July 18, 2013 – Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions (GWS) has become the first company in the facilities management, real estate and workplace sector to achieve the new global Corporate Certification from the Chartered Institute for Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) for demonstrating integrity and excellence in its purchasing processes and procedures.

The CIPS Corporate Certification, which is valid until 2016, was awarded following a rigorous examination of Johnson Controls GWS’ procurement and supply function, which included interviews and assessments and a review of supporting evidence to demonstrate the strength of Johnson Controls GWS’ leadership and organization, strategy, people, processes and performance.

Guy Holden, Johnson Controls GWS, vice president & chief commercial officer, said: “The nature of business is increasingly complex and global. As we continue to operate in new markets, we need to ensure that our supply chain remains effective and robust. This accreditation demonstrates to our customers and suppliers that we have high quality standards in place wherever we conduct business. Procurement can help deliver a competitive advantage and our team is globally recognized for being one of the best there is.”

Previously Johnson Controls GWS had held CIPS accreditation for its operations in northern Europe. The decision to gain global accreditation reflects the company’s global sourcing model.

David Noble, CIPS, chief executive officer said: “Johnson Controls evidenced a very mature approach to their procurement processes. They demonstrated a strong ethical business operating system while understanding the importance of stakeholder involvement. It is a pleasure to be awarding our corporate certification to them.”

The Johnson Controls GWS sourcing team, which comprises 120 employees globally, has delivered in excess of $225 million in savings to Johnson Controls GWS clients during the last three years.

Johnson Controls is one of just 18 companies that spends $1 billion or more annually with diverse suppliers. It is the only business-to-business company to be named Corporation of the Year by the U.S. National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) more than once.
