On February 25, the Shanghai Municipal Government officially announced the results of its investigation into lead exposure levels in Kangqiao. On February 24, the government supplied a portion of its report to Johnson Controls. We are in the process of translating and reviewing those materials.
We share the government’s concern for the well-being of the Kangqiao community which is also home to many Johnson Controls employees. Through our monitoring and analysis of our plant’s emissions data, we are confident that the plant was operating well below the levels specified by Chinese environmental regulations. Based on all available facts, Johnson Controls disagrees with any interpretation linking our plant’s operation to elevated lead exposure in the Kangqiao area.
Johnson Controls has a long-term commitment to China. We will continue to work with the government in a transparent and cooperative manner focusing on scientifically assessing the environmental issues in Kangqiao while responding to the needs of the community, our employees and our customers
